How to Connect Insta360 and Ricoh 360 Cameras and Capture 360 Media in Filio

Filio supports 360-degree image capture using compatible 360 cameras such as Insta360 and Ricoh devices. Once connected, you can capture immersive project documentation directly from the Filio Mobile App and upload it to your project. This guide explains how to connect your camera, capture 360 media, and sync it to the Filio cloud.

Step-by-Step Guide to Connecting a 360 Camera

Step 1 – Power On Your 360 Camera

Turn on your Insta360 or Ricoh 360 camera.

Make sure the camera’s Wi-Fi is enabled and ready for connection.

Step 2 – Connect Your Phone to the Camera Wi-Fi

Open your mobile device Wi-Fi settings.

Connect directly to your camera’s Wi-Fi network.

For example:

Insta360 X5 Wi-Fi

Ricoh THETA Wi-Fi

Your phone must be connected to the camera Wi-Fi before Filio can communicate with the device.

Step 3 – Close Other Camera Applications

Before opening Filio:

Close the Insta360 app, Ricoh THETA app, or any other camera-control application.

Fully close and reopen the Filio Mobile App if it was already running.

Running both apps simultaneously may prevent Filio from connecting to the camera. In the support example, closing both applications and reopening Filio resolved the connection issue.

Step 4 – Open the 360 Camera Option in Filio

Open the Filio Mobile App.

Navigate to:

Camera → 360

Filio will automatically attempt to detect the connected 360 camera.
Once detected, you’re ready to capture 360 imagery

Step 5 – Capture a 360 Image

Tap the capture button to take a 360 photo.

The image will be saved to your Filio project and associated with the selected project location and metadata.

Step 6 – Allow the Media to Sync

While connected to the camera Wi-Fi, the 360 image may not immediately upload to the cloud because your phone is using the camera’s network connection.
After capturing:
Disconnect from the camera Wi-Fi
Reconnect to cellular data or an internet-connected Wi-Fi network
Filio will automatically synchronize the 360 media to the cloud.
