How to Filter Media Using the Area Filter in Filio Web App

The Area Filter feature in the Filio Web App allows you to visually select and filter media directly from the project map. Instead of scrolling or searching by date, simply draw a boundary on the map to display all media captured within that area. This makes it ideal for large sites, multi-zone projects, or geolocated inspections.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Area Filter

Step 1 – Open Filio Web App and Select a Project

Log in to filio.io and select the project you’d like to work with.

On the project page, you’ll see your media list on the left and a map view on the right.

Step 2 – Enable the Map View

Make sure the Map tab is selected (next to “Plan Sheets”) so you can see the project layout with media pins.

Each blue marker represents a captured photo or video with GPS data .

Step 3 – Use the Area Filter Tool

Click the “Area Filter” button on the right side of the map.

A drawing tool will appear — click and drag to draw a rectangle or polygon around the area you want to filter.

Step 4 – Review and Adjust Results

Once the filter is applied:

The number of visible media items updates automatically.

You can adjust the selection by dragging or resizing the boundary box.

Click “Reset” to clear the filter and return to all project media.

Tips and Warnings

Use the Area Filter to review media from specific project zones or inspection areas.

  • Combine Area Filter with the Timeline Graph for both time- and location-based filtering.

  • Zoom in for better accuracy when selecting smaller areas.
  • Only media with GPS coordinates can appear in the map-based Area Filter.

  • The feature requires an internet connection to update filtered map results.
