How to Add Public Users to Projects in Filio?

Adding public users to Filio projects is simple. Create a new user account, assign a role, and link them to your project. This also works for unregistered users who can activate their access later. Follow this guide to get started.

Steps to Add Public Users

Follow these steps to create and assign a public user to your project.

Step 1: Log In and Access Users

– Log in to your Filio web account.
- From the left sidebar, click the “Users” option to open the user management page, showing your list of users.

Step 2: Add a New User

At the top right of the user list, choose between two options:

– Click “+Add Users” to upload a file (e.g., CSV) containing multiple user details for bulk creation.

– Click “+Add User” to manually add a single user. In the “Add User” popup, fill in the fields for First Name, Last Name, Cellphone Number (with country code), and Email, then click the orange “Add” button.

Step 3: Edit Role and Assign to Project

– In the user list, click the edit icon (a square with an arrow) next to the new user, located beside the trash icon, to open the edit popup.


- Go to the “User Information” tab, where the user is set as a Standard User by default. Change the role using the dropdown (options include Public User, Own Account Only, Own & Super-Admin, Super-Admin Only) and set Project Creation Rights (choose to allow or restrict project creation).


- Switch to the “Projects” tab, search for the project by name or code, then check the box to assign the user (you can add to multiple projects).


– Click “Save” to apply. The user will now have the selected role and project access.

Tips and Warnings

Add users effectively with these tips and important notes.

  • Use a CSV file with “+Add Users” for bulk imports to save time.

  • Assign multiple projects at once in the edit popup for efficiency.
  • Start with “Public User” role for limited access, then upgrade as needed.
  • New users are set as standard by default, so make sure to change the role to “Public User” for external access.
  • Assigned projects will appear only after the user logs in, so remember to notify them by email. 

  • Only Super Admins can add or edit users, so check your permissions first
